When blogging for SEO, many will argue that you want to post as much content as possible. Their main reason being, the more blog posts you have with great keywords and SEO-optimized text, the more keywords you will target and rank for in search engine results pages (SERPs).

But the question remains, how often should you really be blogging?

In reality, there are many different opinions on this topic. Some bloggers believe that it’s best to publish a new blog post once per day or every other day while others say it’s better to wait until there is something worth blogging about before posting anything at all.

The majority of blogging experts agree that blogging three times per week is the perfect balance between quality and quantity, but there are obvious exceptions, such as bandwidth or budget.

In our opinion, if you have the budget and we have the topics to support our goal of increasing keywords and writing high-quality topics, then we agree that the more content, the better in terms of SEO.

However, in reality, most companies or people don’t have unlimited budgets, and the truth is, content costs money. We typically work with companies that post between 1 and 3 pieces of content per week.

How Many Words Should a Blog Post Be?

Blogging best practices recommend blogging posts that are at least 300 words, but the length of your blog post will depend on what you want to achieve.

For example, if you’re looking for more click-throughs and engagement, shorter content is better because it’s easier for readers to digest. If you want your audience to take action or learn something new about a certain topic in depth then longer blogging content is recommended because people usually need more time to understand long articles. So again this heavily depends on your goals when blogging!

In our experience, we find that we are typically writing blog posts between 500 and 1,500 words for our clients.

How Do I Find Topics For Blog Posts?

The first step in finding topics for blogging would be brainstorming ideas and key phrases related to your company or product offerings–What does your company do well? What questions are your customers asking? What’s trending in your industry?

Then, use a keyword research tool like Ahrefs or Moz to find keywords or keyword questions that have low difficulty and high search volume that you can develop blog content around.

In addition, research competitor blogs to find examples of topics they are writing about!

To Sum It All Up

The number of blogs you should post each month depends on you and your companies bandwidth and budget. If you can post a high-quality blog every day that targets and keyword relevant to your business, then go for it! If you only have the bandwidth to post once per week or per month, this is better than never at all! SEO is all about increasing the number of keywords your site is targeting to draw in more organic traffic.
