So, you have a website on the interwebz and you think you are killing it. Sound accurate? Or you finally have a website for your business, you’re paying the Google Ads guy to bring in some results and you think you’re hitting your full potential.

Well, I’m here to tell you, if you are not doing SEO, you are not maximizing your online exposure.

Visibility

Let’s think about it this way. Imagine you are not running Google Ads; how would a customer find your website? Well, they would Google it, right? What if you are running Google Ads but you are not bidding on a specific keyword, how do you rank for that keyword?

The answer is Search Engine Optimization or SEO. To increase your visibility within Google, you need to optimize your website for SEO.

How Does SEO Increase SERP Visibility?

By optimizing your website for SEO, you are telling Google which keyword to index your website for. The beauty of doing this is that if you are performing keyword research properly, and writing optimized tags, you know that your website has the chance to rank for these keywords you are targeting.

Ranking for more keywords that are not too competitive will inherently increase your website’s visibility. By increasing the visibility, you are consequently increasing your website’s organic traffic, which could lead to new customers.

Conversions

Once you have increased the organic traffic to your website, you must now optimize your traffic, so it converts. If we step back for a second and take a top-down look at what we are doing, step one is to increase our total keywords and keyword position to increase our organic traffic. Step 2 is to optimize our website so the additional traffic converts.

Part of the SEO process is to optimize the on-site copy by adding additional words to each page, utilizing keywords, internal linking, heading formatting, and more. This helps to not only distribute link juice amongst the pages but also helps to reduce bounce rate and increase metrics like time on site, pages per session, and pageviews.

Improving these metrics will help to increase your website’s conversions by keeping potential customers in your ecosystem and getting them to the most relevant page.

To Sum It All Up

SEO is extremely important for brands in this day in age. Most brands understand that they need to dedicate budget towards paid marketing efforts but most simply do not understand the value of search engine optimization. To sum it all up, search engine optimization increases your visibility within search engines by indexing your website for keywords with low competition and high search volume.
