Socium Spotlight: Dave Panfili

You’ve probably heard us say that people aren’t Socium’s most important asset; the right people are Socium’s most important asset. That’s why we started our Socium Spotlight series, where we shine a light on the diverse and unique personalities that make up the Socium team.

For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re excited to feature our SEO Development Manager, Dave Panfili!

What made you choose this career path?
Ultimately, I stumbled into a digital marketing career path. As an art school graduate, I was always interested in the design aspects of marketing. An early gig introduced me to Content Management Systems, which provoked a self-taught journey into the world of Web Development, SEO, and Web Design.

What made Socium stand out when you were looking for your next adventure?
Without a doubt, the culture and the care! The co-owners at Socium seem to understand the critical components of fostering a healthy and enriching work environment. They get it, and I try to make that known every chance I get.

Have you always wanted to work in the marketing/advertising industry?
Not exactly. My true passion in my 20s was music production. I did that for a while but took the hint and moved on. I then briefly pursued involvement in the film industry. But after finishing working on the production of a documentary film I quickly realized that wasn’t the right path for me (no job stability). That’s when I decided to go back to school for my degree in Computer Science, which transitioned me into my current career.

What piece of advice would you offer fellow digital marketers?
This is an easy one: Always Keep Learning! Digital Marketing, like many other fields, is constantly changing. So, for your professional and client growth, always keep your eyes and ears out for new marketing trends. And as the Socium motto goes, find a way to be 1% better every day!

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Believe in yourself more. Self-doubt is something that everyone deals with in every profession and all walks of life. So have the confidence in your abilities to take risks and find some positives when confronted with the discomfort associated with change.

Thank you, Dave, for working with us on this month’s Socium Spotlight!
