For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re excited to feature our Senior Strategist of Shopping & Feeds, Eugene O’Neill!

Looking back on your first day at Socium, how did your expectations compare to the reality of your role?
I thought it would be nice to work with a team of people who know a lot about Shopping Feeds. It’s been more than that, though – everyone is super collaborative and eager to share new ideas and help.

What drew you to Socium?
I liked the idea of working on a dedicated Google Shopping team, but during the interview process, the co-founders Sam and Owen shared a deck about Socium. It gave a nice overview of the company’s values, helped illustrate its mission, and really stuck with me.

What’s the best lifestyle benefit of working at Socium?
Summer Fridays. I can’t wait to be relaxing at the pool before the evening rush.

What did you do before coming to Socium?
I had a somewhat similar job in the bike industry.

What did you use to daydream about being when you grew up?
I was interested in architecture and wanted to be an architect.

What client of Socium’s do you think everybody should know about?
LightUp – if you need new LEDs for your home, check them out!

What kind of approach do you take when working with clients?
I prefer to start by collaborating with the team and brainstorming the direction we will take. This approach helps align expectations and priorities across the board.

If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
I’d eat my way through Chengdu, China.

What has been your favorite event/happy hour at Socium?
I ate so many delicious tacos during the retreat in Austin.

What did you receive as your favorite food when you joined the Socium team?
I got a lot of Doritos lol.
