Socium Spotlight: Anré Nguyen
You’ve probably heard us say that people aren’t Socium’s most important asset; the right people are Socium’s most important asset. That’s why we started our Socium Spotlight series, where we shine a light on the diverse and unique personalities that make up the Socium team.
For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re excited to feature our Associate Director of Paid Social, Anré Nguyen!
What has Socium taught you about the marketing/advertising industry?
Marketing trends and advertising platforms are constantly evolving, and there is no way you can be an “expert” in everything.
What’s the best lifestyle benefit of working at Socium?
Book club! We formed a book club group a year ago, with the first discussion centered around a romance novel. Since then, we’ve read through various genres including sci-fi, thrillers, and biographies. What’s even better is Socium lets us expense our book club purchases (a win for everyone involved).
What’s your favorite job perk that Socium offers?
Unlimited PTO, and on top of that, bonus incentives to take that PTO (bonuses up to 2x a year)! There are many companies out there offering unlimited vacation days, however, it’s rare for companies to actually encourage and reward folks for taking it. It’s been a huge help in my work life balance.
What did you use to daydream about being when you grew up?
Growing up, I wanted to own a sandwich shop. I’d fantasize about chatting with customers and sharing samples on little toothpicks. It seemed so charming, especially the customer relations. Thankfully, working here provides that. I have the opportunity to connect with the people behind the brands and build lasting relationships!
What’s a memorable campaign you’ve worked on for a client? Why?
One of our clients is TUSHY, a modern bidet company. There isn’t a specific campaign per se, but every time we brainstorm ad copy with the team, it’s always a fun ride. All the best bathroom jokes you can think of, we’ve probably included them in ads (favs include “Poo-fect” and “Spread holiday cheer, not poop”).
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Be nicer to yourself (and be nicer to your mom), because you/we are human. Compassion and self-forgiveness is so important when it comes to growth.
Thank you, Anré, for working with us on this month’s Socium Spotlight!
