Socium Spotlight: George Serpikov

You’ve probably heard us say that people aren’t Socium’s most important asset; the right people are Socium’s most important asset. That’s why we started our Socium Spotlight series, where we shine a light on the diverse and unique personalities that make up the Socium team.

For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re thrilled to feature our Paid Search Team Lead, George Serpkiov!

Looking back on your first day at Socium, how did your expectations compare to the reality of your role?
I expected to be challenged, and to learn a LOT from the all of the talented people here at Socium. My reality was not only that, but so much more. I’ve gotten to collaborate on a lot of interesting accounts, and get to genuinely enjoy working with the team here.

What’s your favorite job perk that Socium offers?
The fact that Socium will pay you to take a vacation! Twice a year, Socium will pay you $250 for taking 5 consecutive days off. They encourage you to reset, relax, and unplug completely, which I appreciate.

Have you always wanted to work in the marketing/advertising industry?
I’ve always been drawn to the marketing/advertising industry. My first internship in marketing was actually on the paid social side, back in 2014. Generally, I just liked being on social media and thought, “How can I be paid to do this?!” One day, I quickly had a colleague show me the search side of things, and I liked that better: cleaner, more data, less about cute photos. The rest is history.

What’s something on your bucket list?
I want to visit every continent at least once! I’ve knocked off North America, Europe, and Australia, but have 4 to go.
