Socium Spotlight: Maiya Hoard

You’ve probably heard us say that people aren’t Socium’s most important asset; the right people are Socium’s most important asset. That’s why we started our Socium Spotlight series, where we shine a light on the diverse and unique personalities that make up the Socium team.

For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re excited to feature our Paid Social Senior Strategist, Maiya Hoard!

What made you choose this career path?
I grew up as an artist and musician but always had a love for understanding what drove human behavior. Marketing provided an opportunity to marry my experience in the creative realm and interest in what makes people tick.

Finish this sentence: “You can learn a lot about Socium by looking at its ____.”
Values! Socium truly sets itself apart from other agencies by practicing and prioritizing values that place its people first (and enables them to do exceptional work).

What did you use to daydream about being when you grew up?
One week it was a ballerina, or a doctor, then a musician, then an art therapist, or a business owner… But it usually bounced between doing something that involved creativity, helping others, or both!

What client of Socium’s do you think everybody should know about?

I think everyone should know about MoMA Design Store! They have consistently created a selection of wonderful products that are both functional and beautifully designed, while keeping in mind environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Plus, it all benefits the MoMA!

What do you do outside of work?
I LOVE spending time outside – whether that’s the beach, the park, or just a walk around my neighborhood. I come to life when I spend time in nature. I also really enjoy reading, journaling, spending quality time with friends and family, trying to perfect latte art, and trying to keep plants alive.

Thank you, Maiya, for working with us on this month’s Socium Spotlight!
