Socium Spotlight: Travis Brown

You’ve probably heard us say that people aren’t Socium’s most important asset; the right people are Socium’s most important asset. That’s why we started our Socium Spotlight series, where we shine a light on the diverse and unique personalities that make up the Socium team.

For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re excited to feature our Paid Search Manager, Travis Brown!

What made you choose this career path?
The data. Being able to tie together data points from Google Ads, third party apps, and the clients themselves is like a puzzle that can fit together in countless ways. It’s incredibly rewarding to figure out how the puzzle best fits together and how we can improve it.

What made Socium stand out when you were looking for your next adventure?
The clear career trajectory. Socium wants its people to grow and has done a great job of prioritizing growth. 

What’s the best lifestyle benefit of working at Socium?
Summer Fridays. It shows an attention to work-life balance that can be easily forgotten in agency life.

What did you use to daydream about being when you grew up?
When I was a kid, I wanted to be an ornithologist. I had grand ideas of opening a bird sanctuary/hotel in my hometown.

What kind of approach do you take when working with clients?
The cop out answer is a bit of both! I want to familiarize myself with what the client is currently doing before a brainstorming session so I can speak the language and get a rough idea of strategy. From there, the brainstorming session helps solidify the overall plan.

What piece of advice would you offer fellow digital marketers?
Get as much data from your clients as possible. We only have so much insight, and getting as much info from your clients as possible can help explain any disconnects you see in performance.

If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
Japan, my wife and I have a trip planned for next year and we’re super excited to go.

Cats or dogs (or other!)?
Cats 100%!

What did you receive as your favorite food when you joined the Socium team?
A hilariously excessive amount of Doritos. It was also my birthday when I joined, so they sent me Crumbl cookies too.
