While adding tracking codes to your Squarespace may seem a bit of an overwhelming task if you are new to Squarespace or adding tracking codes to websites, Squarespace makes the process very straightforward. While Google Analytics and the Facebook Pixel are super easy to add to Squarespace because of the built-in features, Google Ads conversion tracking can be a bit trickier, but we will walk you through the process one step at a time.

Let’s run through the recommended ways to add Google Analytics, Google Ads Conversion Tracking, and the Facebook Pixel to Squarespace. 

How to Add Google Analytics to Squarespace

With the lowest tier account, you are able to add Google Analytics to Squarespace:

  1. Sign in to your Squarespace account by going to Squarespace.com or your website and tapping the ‘ESC’ key.
  2. Once logged in, click Settings.

3. Then select Advanced.

4. Click External API Keys.

5. Add your Google Analytics UA Code under GOOGLE ANALYTICS ACCOUNT NUMBER.

6. Click SAVE.

To test the implementation, login to Google Analytics and select Realtime in the menu to see the real-time website traffic. Make sure you have your website up in a tab on your browser so you can appear in the real-time traffic report! 

How to Add Google Ads Conversion Tracking to Squarespace

To add the Google Ads Conversion Tracking codes to Squarespace in order to track purchases, you must enable Code Injection by upgrading to a Business or Commerce plan. Once upgraded, add the Google Ads Conversion tracking by completing the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your Squarespace account by going to Squarespace.com or your website and tapping the ‘ESC’ key.
  2. Once logged in, click Settings.

3. Then select Advanced.

4. Click Code Injection and scroll down to Order Confirmation Page.

5. In Google Ads, click Tools & Settings, Measurement, then ConversionsIf you’ve already set up your conversion, skip to download snippet. Otherwise, click the +CONVERSIONS button.

6. Select the kind of conversion you’d like to track.

7. Next, enter the CategoryConversion name, and Value, the rest can be left as default or feel free to customize as you need.
8. Then, click CREATE AND CONTINUE.
9.To add the Conversion Code to Squarespace, select Install the tag yourself.

10. You will need to add two codes to Squarespace. The first code is the Global Site Tag. Copy and paste your Global Site Tag under the Order Confirmation Page Code Injection.
11. Next, copy and paste the Event Snippet below your Global Site Tag in the Order Confirmation Page Code Injection.
12. Click SAVE.

How to Add Facebook Pixel to Squarespace

Adding the Facebook Pixel to Squarespace is as easy as copy and pasting the code in the designated field, however, you must have a Business or Commerce level Squarespace plan, in order to do so. To add the Facebook Pixel to Squarespace:

  1. Sign in to your Squarespace account by going to Squarespace.com or your website and tapping the ‘ESC’ key.
  2. Select Marketing.

4. Copy and paste the Facebook Pixel to the designated field.

5. Click SAVE.

Although it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, adding the Google Analytics UA code, Google Ads Conversion Codes, and Facebook Pixel is very simple thanks to Squarespace! Once your tracking codes are added to your Squarespace website, you’ll able to accurately attribute your traffic and sales to the proper channel.
