Socium Spotlight: Justin Vitiello

You’ve probably heard us say that people aren’t Socium’s most important asset; the right people are Socium’s most important asset. That’s why we started our Socium Spotlight series, where we shine a light on the diverse and unique personalities that make up the Socium team.

For this month’s Socium Spotlight, we’re excited to feature our Senior Paid Search Strategist, Justin Vitiello!

Looking back on your first day at Socium, how do your expectations compare to the reality of your role?
I was immediately impressed by the culture at Socium, and thankfully, it seems to have gotten even stronger as the team grows. I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing clients & team members who have all played a part in my career development. 

What has Socium taught you about the marketing/advertising industry?
You can’t get too comfortable since the landscape is always changing, whether it be industry trends, new/updated campaign types, testing opportunities, and much more. The industry always keeps you on your toes!

What made Socium stand out when you were looking for your next adventure?
Socium instills everyone with a strong sense of responsibility, paving the way for us to “act like owners.” I was looking for a workplace that would allow me to play a bigger part in account management & strategy instead of being siloed into the usual day-to-day requirements.

What did you do before coming to Socium?
I started off my career in the PR Industry, where I quickly realized that writing is not my strong suit. I then transitioned to paid media in the print advertising space. However, given the major shift to digital media, I made the shift to Paid Search advertising.

What piece of advice would you offer fellow digital marketers?
Don’t be afraid to test new ideas! Sticking to the same routine/strategy can negatively impact performance in the long term. The more you test, the better idea you have of what works and what doesn’t, so it’s important to keep an open mind.

What do you do outside of work?
I like spending time outdoors, whether it’s going to the beach in the summer or skiing in the winter. I also love watching movies.

If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
Italy!

Cats or dogs (or other!)?
Dogs!!

What has been your favorite event/happy hour at Socium?
Our most recent retreat to Savannah was a blast! We had a great time exploring the city, and it was a great way to catch up with team members that you don’t typically chat with every day.
